Helen Louise Flewellen

Helen Louise Flewellen, age 90 of Cushing, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Clarehouse in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Church of God in Cushing. Rev. Kevin Clouse will officiate. Interment will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing, Ok.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.

Helen was born on February 1, 1922 in Jennings, Oklahoma to the late John Frank and Mary Mamie (Nuttle) Green. She grew up in Jennings, moving to Drumright as a freshman in high school. Helen graduated from Drumright High School in 1940. Helen married the love of her life Carson E. Flewellen on July 3, 1942 in Leominster, Massachusetts. While Carson served his country in the military, Helen lived with family in Tulsa, working at the Douglas Aircraft during the war. After returning home from the service, they made their home in Drumright. He began work for Sinclair Oil and she worked for Citizens Bank for a few years. Helen worked for the Quapaw company as an Office Manager for many years, retiring in the late 80’s. They moved to Cushing in 1992 where they attended the Church of God. They enjoyed the dances at the Senior Citizens, playing cards, bowling and traveling. Helen was an accomplished seamstress. She loved spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by her son Dale Flewellen and wife Donna of Drumright, daughter Carol Palmour and husband Jerry of Tulsa, sister Ethel Mae Cain of Mannford, grandchildren DeWayne Palmour and Darcie, Andrea Hanson and Eric, Bret Allan Flewellen and Tonya, Steven Blake Flewellen and Lindsey, great grandchildren Megan Mount and John, Alleissa Palmour, Ryan Hanson, Adam Hanson, Shelby Palmour, Skylar Palmour, MaKenzie Flewellen, Ainsley Flewellen, Addie Flewellen, Molly Flewellen, Zane Guthrie, Carley Harris , two great great grandchildren Chloe and Brinlee Harris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carson E. Flewellen, sisters Catherine Begley and Nona Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, family request that contributions be made in Helen’s name to the Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.
